What is the closed syllable type?

Knowing the six syllable types is like a multivitamin for your literacy brain.
This knowledge supports literacy by helping boost overall word recognition, decoding skills and fills in any learning gaps.
The first syllable type I teach is the CLOSED SYLLABLE because it is the easiest - IMO.
A closed syllable is when a consonant comes AFTER the vowel making the vowel have a short sound. This syllable type is usually the first words students learn how to read and spell (CVC words).
