What is an open syllable?
Aug 29, 2024Ying and yang - that's how I like to think of open and closed syllables.
They are opposites but work together beautifully to make many words in the English language.
In an open syllable there is NOT a consonant AFTER the vowel making the vowel have a long sound.
examples: hi, me, we, no
multisyllabic examples: logo, hero. yoyo
