Do you ever wish you had full control over something powerful? 🏋️

If so, you may want to talk to the letter r. 🤩

When the letter r comes after a vowel it changes the sound of the vowel. Creating a unique vowel sound for these dynamic combos.

The  6th syllable type r-controlled is largely focused around these 5 r-controlled vowel spellings:

ar - says /ar/ as in star, arch
er - says /er/ as in herd, fern
ir - says /er/ as in stir, whirl
or - says /or/ as in for, porch
ur - says /er/ as in burn, nurse

😩It can be tough to know which spelling to use for the /er/ sound! Thinking about the meaning of the word can often be a clue 🕵️to which “er” spelling to use.
🕵 the “er” spelling is often how we spell the /er/ sound at the end of words
🕵 the “ir” spelling is often used for nature words, number words, clothing words, and circular words
🕵 the “ur” spelling is often used for pain words, fire words, and days of the week
